In the context of coastal and marine area management as well as the conservation of protected biota, particularly in managing regional conservation areas, Almanustra participated in the Smart Patrol training organized by the North Sulawesi Natural Resources Conservation Agency (Balai Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam Sulawesi Utara – BKSDA) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Manado from December 13th to 15th, 2023, held at Hotel Grand Luley Manado.

Smart Patrol is a method employed for surveillance and monitoring using patrol team capacities utilizing standardized tools, thereby supporting improved efforts in managing regional conservation areas more effectively.

The Smart Patrol training was also attended by community members involved in Pokmaswas across several villages as well as other stakeholders. The objective of this activity was to introduce and learn the Smart Patrol method for data collection and information gathering to support conservation activities.

This socialization activity raises awareness among the younger generation, specifically students, about the importance of crucial habitats that provide benefits not only to the wildlife within but also to human life. Students can comprehend which wildlife or biota fall under the protected category, enabling them to discern what can still be exploited and what cannot.
