Ecological Survey of Mangroves and Seagrass in North Minahasa

The Almanustra team conducted an ecological survey of mangroves and seagrasses in the waters of North Minahasa Regency on November 15-17, 2023. The survey locations for collecting ecological data on mangroves and seagrasses included Pulau Paniki, Pulau Tamperong, Maen Village, Kalinaung Village, Tanah Putih Village, Pulau Bangka, Pulau Kinabohutan, Pulau Talise, Bahoi Utara, Bahoi Village, and Maliambao Village.

The ecological survey activity aimed to monitor the current condition of the mangrove and seagrass ecosystems. In 2019, a baseline survey was conducted at eight locations. Subsequently, in 2023, additional ecological survey data were collected at an expanded 11 locations. This activity is supported by the Worldwide Conservation Society and funded by the Rainforest Trust.

This activity involved gathering data on the percentage coverage of mangroves and seagrasses. The mangrove coverage data were obtained using hemispherical photography methods, while the seagrass coverage data were collected through quadrat transect methods.
